I’m going to start with a small PSA. There’s so much going on in the world today. And from that, so much is negative. There’s a ton of situations that I can’t control. The only thing that I can control is my response. It makes me so sad to see friends fighting both in person and online over everything from their political choices to wearing a mask. Please be kind to one another.
That being said, I’m going to focus my blog on home decor (of course). I never dreamed that I’d have a home decor business. I’m a musician by training and a teacher by trade. Apparently, I was a great teacher, but I never felt settled when I was teaching all day. I loved teaching enough to teach kids to make music. Unfortunately, I didn’t love it enough to put up with the red tape in the public school system.
Parallel to all of this, my mother and I loved to make floral arrangements. We especially loved to make standout cemetery arrangements for my grandmother, who passed in 2009. Over time, we noticed that our arrangements were traveling to the gravesites of other people. So, we’d make up another custom arrangement, and it would travel as well. Somebody told us, “people love these - you should start a business!” And so that’s what we did.
A couple of years later, I was thinking of redecorating my house, but my taste is eclectic at best. I like to be unique. I don’t want to go to the local store and see all of my living room decor on display. I love to be different. So, I started to make my own decor. I wanted bling wreaths. I wanted wreaths that showcased my sorority. I wanted centerpieces that held candles. I wanted to be ... different.
And so Gorgeous Casa was born. I have sorority wreaths, fraternity wreaths, hybrids or the two, wreaths symbolizing seasons, the Wheel of the Year, as well as centerpieces that mirror those themes. And thats just a few items. I also do custom orders, so if you have an idea or want something tweaked, just let me know!
